Estimado Líder Comunitario:
El Consulado General de México en Los Angeles, California, tiene el placer de invitarle a dos reuniones de trabajo que se verificarán el martes 22 de noviembre de 2005, a las 6:00 p.m., en nuestras instalaciones ubicadas en el 2401 W 6th St. Los Angeles, CA 90057.
La primera será la organización de las Celebraciones del Bicentenario del Natalicio de Don Benito Juárez “Benemérito de las Américas”, misma en la que también se abordará el tema de las Jornadas Juaristas 2006.
La segunda tiene por objeto analizar y discutir los avances del proceso del Voto de los Mexicanos en el Extranjero.
Recuerde que su presencia y participación serán determinantes para el éxito de estas importantes reuniones.

The sad
passing of Common Sense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common
Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old
he was
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red
tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable
lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird
gets the
worm; life isn't always fair and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't
spend more
than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not
children,
are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned
but
overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment
for kissing
a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash
after
lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student,
only
worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for
doing the
job they failed to do in disciplining their unruly children
It declined even further when schools were required to get
parental
consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster
to a
student; but, could not inform the parents when a student
became
pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments
became
contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received
better
treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself
from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for
assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman
failed to
realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a
little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and
Trust, his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son,
Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights,
Someone Else is
to Blame and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was
gone.
If you still remember him pass this on, if not join the
majority and do
nothing.

On September 18, 2002 in the nation's capitol, the Chavez family, the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation and the United States Postal Service (USPS) were joined by Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Senator John McCain, UFW President Arturo Rodriguez, UFW Co-founder Dolores Huerta, American City Vista President and Chief Executive Officer Henry Cisneros, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, and others to honor civil rights and farm labor leader Cesar E. Chavez, by unveiling the Cesar E. Chavez commemorative Stamp. Participants made brief comments about the importance of Cesar's contributions to the fabric of American contemporary society before unveiling the image of the stamp.
El 18 de septiembre de 2002 en el capitolio de la nación, la familia de Chavez, la fundacion de Cesar E. Chavez y el servicio postal de los Estados Unidos (USPS) en conjunto con el Senador Eduardo M. Kennedy, el Senador John McCain, Presidente de UFW Arturo Rodriguez, Cofundador de UFW Dolores Huerta, Presidente americano de Vista de Ciudad y Oficial de jefe del gobierno Henry Cisneros, Presidente de AFL CIO John Sweeney, y otros para honorar al lider de trabajo y los derechos civiles Cesar E. Chavez, destapando el Cesar E. Chavez Sello conmemorativo. Los participantes hicieron comentarios breves acerca de la importancia de contribuciones de Cesar a la fabricacion de la sociedad contemporánea americana antes de destapar la estampilla conmemorativa.
Most of the more than 350,000 children abducted in The United States each year are taken by relatives. Random abductions by strangers are rare but terrifying; experts offer the following tips to parents for trying to avoid them.
—Teach your children in whose car they may ride. Children should be cautioned never to approach any vehicle, occupied or not, unless accompanied by a parent or trusted adult. If a stranger asks for directions or assistance, the child should tell them to ask an adult.
—Create an atmosphere in your own home where your children feel safe confiding information about uncomfortable experiences. Ensure a sense of confidence in your children that you will believe them and be responsive to them if they need your help.
—Tell your child not to go out alone — always take a friend, sister, or brother. Teach them always to tell an adult where they are going, and never to take a ride with someone they don't know.
—Discuss with your children whose homes in the neighborhood they can visit, and the boundaries of where they can and can't go in the neighborhood.
—Make sure your children know their address and telephone numbers, and how to use the telephone. Be sure they know what to do in an emergency, and, if appropriate, how to reach you using cell phones or pagers. Make certain they do not tell anyone who calls that they are home alone.
—Don't drop children off alone at malls, movies, video arcades or parks.

secuestrados en América cada año son realizados por un por pariente. Secuestros de azar por extranjeros son raros pero
aterrorizadores; Expertos les ofrecen las siguientes sugestiones a padres para tratar de evitarlos.
—Enseñe a sus niños en cual coche ellos pueden subirse. Los niños deben ser advertidos a nunca acercarse
a ningún vehículo, ocupado o no, a menos que esten acompañados de uno
de los padres
o un adulto de confianza. Si un extranjero les pide direcciones o
ayuda, el niño los debe decir que le pregunten a un adulto.
—Crea una atmósfera en su propio hogar donde sus niños se sienten en
libertad de confiar informacion acerca de experiencias incómodas. Asegure un sentido de
confianza en sus niños en que usted les cree y sea sensible con ellos si
necesitan su ayuda.
—Digales a sus niños que no deben salir solos — siempre que
vayan con un amigo, la hermana, o el hermano. Enséñelos a siempre decirle
a un adulto a donde van, y nunca irse con alguien que ellos no
conocen.
—Discute con sus niños cuales hogares en el vencindario ellos pueden visitar, y
a donde pueden o no pueden ir en el vencindario.
—Asegurese que sus niños saben sus números de la dirección y de el teléfono, y cómo usar el teléfono. Esté seguro que ellos saben lo que hacer en una emergencia, y, si
es apropiado, cómo localizarlo usando teléfonos célulares o
"beepers". Enseñeles a sus hijos a que no le digan a quien
sea que llame que estan solos en la caza.
—No deje a sus niños sólos en cines, o parques de diversion.
